Brown tortoise is one of the oldest pickguard finishes in guitar history, and for good reason: the organic swirl of amber, honey, and dark brown reads as a natural material even though it is a laminate, giving the guard a warmth that complements almost every traditional guitar finish. Each piece carries its own pattern distribution, so no two guards are identical. The four-ply construction deepens the visual effect by adding layers beneath the surface pattern, and the bevel stripe at the edge completes the look with a period-correct detail. It sits particularly well on natural and sunburst tops, where the warm tones in the tortoise echo the wood beneath without clashing with it.
Compatibility notice: This pickguard is designed for select Gibson Les Paul Junior Single Cut models using the older pickguard pattern. Gibson changed the body shape and mounting-hole locations over different production periods, so this pickguard does not fit every Les Paul Junior. The supplier has confirmed that it does not fit the 2000 Gibson Les Paul Junior.
