Red tortoise has been a fixture on American guitars since the mid-twentieth century, and the four-ply construction here does the pattern justice. The warm amber and mahogany tones swirl across the face in an organic pattern, no two guards identical, with enough depth in the laminate to give the surface a three-dimensional quality rather than a flat print. The layered edge shows the classic bevel stripe, which complements the tortoise pattern without competing with it. It reads especially well against tobacco sunburst and cherry finishes, though it holds its own on solid colors just as easily.
Compatibility notice: This pickguard is designed for select Gibson Les Paul Junior Single Cut models using the older pickguard pattern. Gibson changed the body shape and mounting-hole locations over different production periods, so this pickguard does not fit every Les Paul Junior. The supplier has confirmed that it does not fit the 2000 Gibson Les Paul Junior.
